Doncaster Build is a borough wide initiative, the ethos and the mission of which is ‘Local Jobs For Local People’.
Doncaster Build is a one stop shop approach which acts as a catalyst for organisations to work in partnership ensuring that the borough derives maximum benefit from the coordination of new initiatives and developments, funding, facilities and expertise.
The aim of Doncaster Build is to assist all residents within the borough to access construction training and employment. The one stop with a dedicated hotline facilitates ease of access therefore allowing the opportunity to engage with priority groups who are furthest from the labour market and who would find it difficult to meet the minimum requirements of trainee selection through the normal construction training application process.
Doncaster Build acts as a strategic umbrella, which coordinates both mainstream employability policies and local workforce development initiatives along side both public and private sector funding.
The programme links to mainstream provision and aims to provide a seamless and coordinated approach to recruitment and training. This centralised service for the industry changes the "who you know" culture into "where you go" regardless of background, current status, age or postcode.
The Doncaster Build Programme is a partnership of organisations covering the full spectrum of construction activity which includes, Doncaster Council, LSC, Job Centre Plus, Construction Skills, Doncaster College, H B Training, Connexions, NDC, Doncaster Chamber, BESY, Phoenix Enterprise, ETL and private sector organisations.
Doncaster Build also equips the construction based business community with the knowledge of the wide-ranging funding, training, recruitment and employment initiatives to support new and existing labour to develop new skills and qualifications.
