The Economy Policy team sits within Economic & Planning Policy in the Development Directorate. The team is responsible for delivering a range of priorities linked to supporting Doncaster's residents during the current, and future, economic climates.
The team works closely with colleagues across the council and with partner organisations to develop policy and strategy that is best fit for Doncaster and that aligns with national, regional and sub-regional policy. The team has a number of key workstreams which include:
Driving delivery of Doncaster's Economic Strategy. This reflects the need for a refreshed set of priorities to continue to drive Doncaster to achieve our 2025 vision. Against the context of Doncaster's transformational agenda, the growing economic vitality of Doncaster, and Doncaster's role within the Sheffield City Region, it is necessary for the Borough to deliver interventions which will enable us to achieve our 2025 vision
Development and Implementation of the Work, Skills and Enterprise Programme, a coordinated approach to Skills, Worklessness and Enterprise and is one of the key challenges the Borough faces
Development and Implementation of the South Yorkshire City Pathfinder . Doncaster, as part of a South Yorkshire wide consortium, is committed to ensuring that the demand and supply sides of the labour market are brought together to make sure that skills, employability and training programmes meet employers needs
The Economy Policy team also has a responsibility for the facilitation and management of the Enterprising Doncaster Board. This is the strategic partnership for the Borough responsible for coordinating our approach to Skills, Employment and Enterprise.
In addition, the Board has a strong role to play in the development of economic policy. The Board is private sector led, with key employers and businesses represented alongside key public sector partner agencies including Jobcentre Plus, the Learning and Skills Council, Yorkshire Forward and the Council.
